- Randy Strobel and Joanie Furlong are planning a field trip to the Missouri Ozarks October 19-23. Information was sent to all members on July 28. At this time, around 35 members have expressed interest. Note: originally this trip was planned to be a few days longer, that part to be led by Missouri geologist Phyllis Steckel. Tragically, she died unexpectedly on July 25.

- Tentative dates are October 15-22. Sites visited will include Precambrian igneous rocks in the St. Francois Mountains, historic mining sites in the Old Lead belt, karst features (caves, springs, sinkholes, etc.) in the Springfield Plateau, and earthquake hazards in the Missouri Bootheel. Randy and Joanie will be scouting the trip this summer.
